I Think I’ll Be Leaving AT&T Soon, No More Unlimited 3G!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

according to this link it seems as though AT&T will be getting rid of their unlimited data plans. Since this development does not change current plans, I will be able to keep my plan intact but unfortunately I am leaving the country for four months and will have to cancel my plan (Going to Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, I know you’re jealous). When I come back I will not be able to get another unlimited data plan on AT&T which 100% gaurantees that I will be choosing another carrier.

I probably don’t go over the 2 gigs of data per month but it’s the principal of the thing. As phones increase in their internet and multimedia capabilities it makes no sense at all to begin limiting data plans.

Goodbye AT&T I’ll get on sprint or T-Mobile or some junk when I get back to the US.

RJ is pissed at Google (sort of)

So I temporarily forgot about the froyo update to my Nexus One, Seattle will do that to you, or maybe it’s my girlfriend eh whatever. Either way this morning I remembered that I need to keep up with what is happening on the froyo front.

As I searched on Google I found that the updates are happening RIGHT NOW and that there was (past tense) even a manual update process (Google has since either restricted access or removed the file from its serves). But these were only available to T-Mobile compatible Nexus Ones! If i wanted to go through the manual update process I would have to root my phone, voiding the warranty! I actually got a copy of the update file but since I paid $570 for my phone with no subsidy from AT&T I am very reluctant to attempt to install it and 100% unwilling to root my phone.

Eh anyways what is going on here I want my froyo! Eh oh well I guess I’ll just have to wait until the staggered release gets to me.

Froyo!

So I was hoping and praying that Google would announce android 2.2 (froyo) and then it would magically available for download on my Nexus One but no such luck. I will have to wait at LEAST 11 days because it is supposedly coming out in June. Gah, they have the statue out why can’t they just let me download it!

Eh there were other things announced yesterday at google’s conference but it did not include anything about fixing my Nexus One’s intermittent touch screen problem so I didn’t bother reading in detail. Something about a new VP8 video store and a chrome web apps store. Web apps store? Web apps should be donation only! Haha juuuuuust kidding.

Anyways I can’t wait until I have froyo (android 2.2) and an extended life battery. Then I could be watching hulu or looking at Google Finance in their full Flash 10.1 glory right now instead of typing a blog entry on my phone at the Ontario airport.
