RJ is pissed at Google (sort of)

May 24th, 2010

So I temporarily forgot about the froyo update to my Nexus One, Seattle will do that to you, or maybe it’s my girlfriend eh whatever. Either way this morning I remembered that I need to keep up with what is happening on the froyo front.

As I searched on Google I found that the updates are happening RIGHT NOW and that there was (past tense) even a manual update process (Google has since either restricted access or removed the file from its serves). But these were only available to T-Mobile compatible Nexus Ones! If i wanted to go through the manual update process I would have to root my phone, voiding the warranty! I actually got a copy of the update file but since I paid $570 for my phone with no subsidy from AT&T I am very reluctant to attempt to install it and 100% unwilling to root my phone.

Eh anyways what is going on here I want my froyo! Eh oh well I guess I’ll just have to wait until the staggered release gets to me.

RJ’s Random Updates

May 20th, 2010

It occured to me that I have not updated you, my one reader, on what has been happening in my life. There have been a lot of changes this year.

Some of you may know that I transferred from Fordham’s MBA program to LMU’s program well now it seems as though I am transferring again. I’m going for the Sarah Palin college experience I think 3 colleges in 1 year beats 5 colleges in 4 years. Next stop, idol of the Tea Party! But I digress. Anyways I am heading to Seattle University mostly in order to be closer to my girlfriend, because 1000 miles is just too far even if it is in the same time zone.

I’ll be taking summer school there because I will be taking the fall semester off in order to travel around in Asia. It is depressing but I don’t think we’ll be able to get to Thailand because of the people getting shot in the streets and during interviews and what not. But we shall see how that goes. I’ll post details on my trip when I get them.

For now my thumbs are tired. It’s tiring updating my blog on a cell phone at an airport (going to Seattle) I’ll catch you on the flip side! For now i’ll be playing robo defense on my Nexus One. Peace!

Froyo!

May 20th, 2010

So I was hoping and praying that Google would announce android 2.2 (froyo) and then it would magically available for download on my Nexus One but no such luck. I will have to wait at LEAST 11 days because it is supposedly coming out in June. Gah, they have the statue out why can’t they just let me download it!

Eh there were other things announced yesterday at google’s conference but it did not include anything about fixing my Nexus One’s intermittent touch screen problem so I didn’t bother reading in detail. Something about a new VP8 video store and a chrome web apps store. Web apps store? Web apps should be donation only! Haha juuuuuust kidding.

Anyways I can’t wait until I have froyo (android 2.2) and an extended life battery. Then I could be watching hulu or looking at Google Finance in their full Flash 10.1 glory right now instead of typing a blog entry on my phone at the Ontario airport.
